Infrequently asked questions
what exactly is the ECS?
Your Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is the way you stay balanced. You make neurotransmitters called cannabinoids, endocannabinoids specifically, that target different receptors to help you maintain physiological homeostasis, or balance.
so then what is "ECS wellness"?
An ECS recalibration station. A place where you can tune your ECS through cannabinoid care.
what is cannabinoid care?
Often the cannabinoids you make are not enough to keep you balanced in the modern world we live in. Cannabinoid care involves fine tuning your ECS by engaging in activities that produce more of your own cannabinoids, endocannabinoids, or by supplementing with cannabinoids made from plants, phytocannabinoids.
So how does the ECS do this?
The most well studied endocannabinoid, Anandamide, is named after the Sanskrit word for bliss and is known as the “bliss molecule”. If your body is out of balance, either too excited or too sluggish, you make Anandamide, which then conducts your tempo by slowing things down (usually the case), or speeding things up.
how can I make more anandamide?
by engaging in activities that excite the ECS to make more anandamide. The runner's high is a perfect example of this. Exercise stresses the system, thus we make cannabinoids to calm it down. Meditation is another example in which we produce anandamide in response to our racing thoughts. Other actitivites include connection, mindfulness, acupuncture, yoga, dancing, playing music.
what's the connection between the ECS and connection?
The ECS controls production of oxytocin, the hormone that plays a central role in social bonding. From hugs to orgasms to the births, oxytocin, the love hormone, is at the center of it all.
