what does "ECS wellness" stand for?

good question. ECS stands for endocannabinoid system, the system of communication your body uses to maintain balance. Dictionary.com defines wellness as “the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal”. ECS Wellness is therefore a framework for using your ECS to obtain and maintain a balanced state of good health.

consider cannabinoids as the diet of the ECS. If the cannabinoids we make are not enough, we may need to supplement with cannabinoids made by plants. Consider meditation the exercise of the ECS. In order to achieve balance, we must first witness what it is we believe is causing imbalance. The efficient utilization of these tools can help you achieve an optimal state of wellness.

What exactly is the ECS?

even better question. The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a web of communication, by way of the nervous system, through which our bodies maintain an internal state of balance, also known as homeostasis. The ECS is made of endocannabinoids (neurotransmitters, like serotonin and dopamine), the receptors targeted by the endocannabinoids, and the enzymes that break down the endocannabinoids. At this point, since you likely have not heard of it, your mind may be blown. For us, learning about the ECS was like seeing a sunset for the first time.

Can you tell me a bit more about homeostasis?

but of course. Dictionary.com defines homeostasis as:

1. The tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability, owing to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function.

2. Psychology. a state of psychological equilibrium obtained when tension or a drive has been reduced or eliminated.

3. Entomology. the ability of members of a colony of social insects to behave cooperatively to produce a desired result, as when bees coordinate the fanning of their wings to cool the hive.

Consider all three definitions in concert. The coordinated response can be to an external stimulus that is real or perceived, which in turn causes inner tension. When the system adapts by eliminating, overcoming or tolerating the stimulus causing the imbalance, this tension is lifted.

ECS Wellness, views homeostasis as a state of physical and psychological balance that can be most effectively achieved by a coordinated effort between at least two people. The doctor-patient relationship is an excellent example of this coordinated effort. So is a hug.

Whoah. So how does the ECS help me achieve a state of balance?

whoah is right. The most well studied endocannabinoid, Anandamide, named after the Sanskrit word for bliss, is known as the “bliss molecule”. When your body is out of balance, your neurons (nerves) produce Anandamide to bring things back to equilibrium. Anandamide, along with over a hundred different endocannabinoids, helps maintain optimal “ECS Tone”. Simply put, if the nervous system gets too excited, the ECS tone's things down. Conversely, if the nervous system is too sluggish, the ECS ramps things up. In a way, the ECS conducts the tempo of our internal world, which in turn directly affects our view of the external world. We can therefore use the ECS as a framework for achieving and maintaining balance.

Wait...Why is my ECS not optimized?

because people. Our physiology is designed for a world that no longer exists. Thus, many people’s ECS tone does not allow for navigation of the complex, technology dominant, unnatural place we find ourselves living in. We must remove obstacles and implement tools that allow us to return to our natural state as often as we can. ECS optimization thus becomes the framework for balancing all aspects of our lives, inner and outer.

In. So, How will ECS Wellness help me optimize my ECS tone?

sounds like you've taken the green pill. The ECS is intricately tied to oxytocin, the hormone that plays a central role in social bonding. It is our intention that your experience with our seasoned practitioners and welcoming staff starts your journey to ECS Wellness.

Our providers then hold a space for you in which you feel comfortable exploring what may be holding you back from being your best, most authentic, balanced self. We then explore what strategies and tools we can implement to help you achieve ECS Wellness.

We also see ourselves as the ECS of the Health Care system. If things are too amped up, and too overwhelmed, then we will take the time to collect the information and assimilate it in a way that is digestible. We will then help fill in any gaps that need filling. If the opposite is happening, you are sluggishly making your way through the system, we will help move things along, ordering anything that needs to be ordered and connecting you with providers within our networks.

ECS WELLNESS

Mind. Blown. Any reading recommendations about this stuff?

well, here are some resources.

Wait... I thought you just certify for medical marijuana?

don't be such a wisenheimer.

We do certify of course! But we view cannabis therapeutics as an efficient way to optimize the ECS and feel better more quickly than some of the strategies with a steeper learning curve, such as mindfulness and meditation.

OK. Next Steps?

you go to the scheduling page and get rolling...

How many hidden links are there on this site?

every photo is a link. which is kind of hidden in plain sight.

oh wait. there is one hidden, or at least hard to find, link within text. bragging rights if you find it...

You've got jokes. Are you going to take me seriously?

mad jokes. obviously we take you seriously. We see a lot of people with heavy stories of physical and emotional trauma (because people) that unfortunately have not been seen or heard by anyone (because people). We are often their last stop. In life, you're either gonna laugh, or you're gonna cry. We need to keep things light whenever possible. our hope is you'll laugh with us.
