So how does the ECS do this?

Let's look at the most well studied endocannabinoid, Anandamide, named after the Sanskrit word for bliss, is known as the “bliss molecule”. When your body is out of balance, your neurons (nerves) produce Anandamide to bring things back to equilibrium. Anandamide, along with over a hundred different endocannabinoids, helps maintain optimal “ECS Tone”. Simply put, if the nervous system gets too excited, the ECS tone's things down. Conversely, if the nervous system is too sluggish, the ECS ramps things up. In a way, the ECS conducts the tempo of our internal world, which in turn directly affects our view of the external world. We can therefore use the ECS as a framework for achieving and maintaining balance.
